Proposed water park, hotel gets zoning
Austin Business Journal - 2:13 PM CDT Monday, March 12, 2007

Developers will be able to move forward on the planning stages of a proposed water park in Cedar Park thanks to a zoning change passed by council members that designates the land a planned unit development zone.

The zoning change, along with the city's annexation of 10.7 acres of land, means developer Rich Redmond is one step closer to finalizing a deal for the land. Redmond says he still has to work out an incentive agreement with the city, and adds that a traffic analysis study will precede any construction.

Redmond is proposing a $75 million water park and hotel on 40 acres at the intersection of Parmer Lane and RM 1431 in Cedar Park. The proposed site map also includes 280,000 square feet of retail space. Redmond says his goal is to have the water park open by summer 2008, and the hotel open by December 2008. Redmond also owns the 6-acre Volente Beach Waterpark on Lake Travis.
